Biographies
Kurt
M. Hughes
Kurt has
been practicing law since 1985, concentrating in
adoption
and assisted reproductive technology (ART) law,
family law
and state and federal
criminal defense.
He is a graduate of Colgate University (BA 1981) and
Vermont Law School (JD 1984). After working as a
prosecutor with the Chittenden County State's
Attorney's Office, Kurt joined the firm in 1989. He
is the only Vermont lawyer who is a member of the
American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, an
invitation-only national association of attorneys
who practice, or have otherwise distinguished
themselves, in the field of adoption law. His
notable courtroom successes range from a landmark
Vermont Supreme Court decision against the State of
Vermont’s Department of Social and Rehabilitation
Services in 1997 to an acquittal in a first degree
murder case in Washington County District Court in
2004. He is also a member of the American Bar
Association, the Vermont Bar Association, the
Vermont Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and
the Vermont Trial Lawyers Association. Kurt grew up
in Long Branch, New Jersey and moved to Vermont in
1985.

Anne Lambert
Anne
Higgins-Lambert joined the firm in December of 2006.
She graduated from Champlain College in 1976
obtaining an Associate in Science degree with a
double major in Court Reporting and Legal
Secretarial Services. In addition, she majored in
History and minored in French at the University of
Vermont, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of
Science degree. Currently, Anne is the Legal
Administrative Assistant for Kurt M. Hughes and
Frank Twarog.
